Cardiology Screening Test

Cardiac screening tests are essential for evaluating heart health and detecting potential problems at an early stage. These non-invasive procedures, such as ECGs, help to identify cardiovascular disease, enabling early intervention to reduce risk and improve outcomes. At RocklandMD Private Medical Clinic, we offer a variety of services on this subject.

The ABPM, or Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor, is a device used to measure a person’s blood pressure over a 24-hour period. Unlike a one-time measurement during a clinical visit, ABPM provides a more complete picture of an individual’s blood pressure profile in daily life, including while asleep.

The ABPM process involves wearing a cuff connected to a small portable device which automatically records blood pressure at regular intervals, usually every 30 minutes during the day and every hour at night. The patient can carry on with their normal activities during the measurement period.

The ABPM is often used to diagnose arterial hypertension or to evaluate the effectiveness of antihypertensive treatment already underway. It can reveal variations in blood pressure throughout the day, including spikes in blood pressure during stress or physical activity, as well as drops during sleep. This information helps physicians to adjust treatment regimens and personalize care to better control the patient’s blood pressure.

In summary, the ABPM is an important tool in the management of arterial hypertension, enabling a more accurate evaluation of blood pressure over a prolonged period in order to diagnose and optimize treatment.

CardioSTAT

( 48 hours – 7 days and 14 days )

The CardioSTAT device records the electrical activity associated with your heartbeat during evaluation period (which may be 48 hours, 7 days or 14 days). Once the recording time has elapsed, you can return the device to the analysis centre by mail.

A technologist will analyze the recorded data and provide a report to a medical specialist (cardiologist) who will be responsible for interpreting the results. These results will be communicated to you by your physician.

You can wear the CardioSTAT while walking, exercising, eating and sleeping. You can even wear it in the shower.
